Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Windhoek to the Namib Desert
Your Namibia adventure begins when your guide picks you up from your hotel or guest house between 09:00 and 09:30. We set off at 10:00 and head south toward the world-famous Sossusvlei by way of the scenic Spreetshoogte Pass. We stop at the viewpoint to enjoy the endless views over the Namib, one of the oldest deserts on earth. We then enjoy lunch at the Solitaire Oasis before reaching the lodge or campsite between 15:00 and 16:00. This is the hottest part of the day, so we suggest you cool off by the pool. An early night is a good idea, since tomorrow brings an early start.
Day 2: Dune 45 and Sossusvlei (Desert Experience)
Today starts very early so we can catch the soft light of sunrise over the desert. After passing through Sesriem, we drive on toward Sossusvlei, with tall sand dunes rising on both sides of the road. This famous landscape is made up of white plains and towering red dunes that stand against a deep blue sky, and they are among the tallest in the world. We begin by climbing Dune 45, where you can take in the beauty and vast size of the orange desert. We then move on to the striking Deadvlei, a wide desert pan where ancient, dried-out acacia trees stand in silence. Here you can climb one of the tallest dunes on earth, known as Big Mama.
We return to camp to relax by the pool, since the temperature can rise sharply during the day. In the afternoon, you can hike the Sesriem Canyon. We then return to camp to freshen up before dinner, and the rest of the evening is yours to relax.
Day 3: Swakopmund
Today’s scenic drive takes you north-west through the amazing and ever-changing desert scenery of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, including the impressive Gaub and Kuiseb canyons by way of the Kuiseb Pass. You reach the coast at the port town of Walvis Bay, then continue north to Swakopmund, where you enjoy the pleasant seaside setting and cooler coastal breeze for a one-night stay. Swakopmund offers many fun activities you can add at your own cost.
After a long day, you freshen up and can then explore the town and waterfront on foot before enjoying dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 4: Swakopmund to Walvis Bay and a Himba Village
This morning brings one of the highlights of your trip, an unforgettable drive to Walvis Bay. You meet your local guide and set off on a half day Sandwich Harbour tour. You check in at 08:00 at the waterfront, where your guide gives you a full briefing before this exciting trip begins. After your time at Sandwich Harbour, where giant dunes meet the Atlantic Ocean, we head north into the diverse region of Damaraland, with wonderful scenery and lunch along the way. You pass Namibia’s highest mountain and arrive at Oppi-Koppi Rest Camp in the late afternoon.
Once you settle in, you meet your guide in the lobby to visit a Himba Village. A local guide who is known to the Himba people joins you to show you around and to translate, since the community speaks only their own language. We then return to Oppi-Koppi to freshen up and enjoy dinner, and the rest of the evening is yours to relax after a full day.
Day 5: Kamanjab to Etosha National Park
After breakfast, your guide takes to the road toward Etosha National Park, with lunch along the way. We arrive in the late afternoon. After check-in, you meet your guide in the main area and set off in your own private vehicle for a game drive to the waterholes. If you are lucky, you will spot predators, and you can also expect zebra, giraffe, elephant, rhino, and many kinds of antelope. We return to your accommodation, and while your guide prepares dinner over an open fire, you freshen up and join him to eat. After dinner, you can relax in the main area and watch the animals come and go, and the rest of the evening is yours.
Day 6: Etosha National Park
Today we spend most of the day searching for wildlife. We visit a number of waterholes and stop to view the Etosha Pan, also known as the place of dry water. This huge, flat salt pan covers about 5,000 sq km. Seeing large herds of game against this setting of shimmering mirages is a truly unique experience. The early morning hours are perfect for exploring as we move between the waterholes.
You visit the Etosha salt pan before we set off on a game drive across the park in search of the Big Five and many other animals. We enjoy lunch along the way. You then return to freshen up for dinner, which is followed by an exciting night drive. After the night drive, we return to the resort, and the rest of the evening is yours to relax.
Day 7: Etosha to Windhoek
After a tasty breakfast, we head back to the city, passing through small towns along the way. Just before we reach Windhoek, we stop in the town of Okahandja to visit Namibia’s largest wood-carving market, the perfect place to pick up a souvenir of your trip. We expect to arrive in the city at around 16:30, where we drop you off at your accommodation. We hope to welcome you back to Namibia again soon.
